THURSDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER
Oh dear…, I touched on the fact I do shift work in my last blog post (14 Day Challenge: Day 3 – Results) but even I didn’t know how tits up this morning would go. In a nutshell I finished work at 8am and had to wait around town to do a couple of errands. Those couple of errands took a LOT longer than expected. I didn’t get home until 1:30pm. At this point I had been awake for 19 1/2 hours and hadn’t eaten anything since 6am, which was a banana. I was ready to pass out. I am now, while writing this, in bed with a cup of tea, in my nostalgic Central Perk mug, hot water bottle in hand and plenty of blankets. It’s now even later as I had to sort out the dogs, wash my face, the usual get ready for bed routine. As it stands, I’ve now been awake for 22 hours. I can feel every last one of them.
Since today is now technically a my day off, even though it’s already 2:30pm, I have to adjust back to my day shift pattern. I’ll take a quick nap for a couple of hours and then get up for another couple of hours, before falling back into bed with another cup of tea and a fresh hot water bottle. I cannot wait. As you could imagine I was in no humor this morning for clear thoughts so when it came down to what food I was going to eat between naps all I could think of was something quick. I popped into my local Tesco before heading home and committed my first(ish) challenge sin. I got some fresh bread, it was still warm. That is literally all I’ll have today. Some bread and two cups of tea because the rest of the time I’ll be spending asleep.
Nothing at all changed really food and drink wise last night. I avoided the tea again though just to be safe, although it was a struggle because I was freezing cold in work. So cold, my entire body just froze, could barely move, past the numbness and pins and needles stage. I was wearing warm clothes too. Just you know when you get the cold into you and it just won’t go?
I did do another of Lucy’s workouts though. I very happy I persevered and found time to do them! I did three in the end! I did her walking workout first which was amazing. I hadn’t done one of those before, I really liked the format and boy do you sweat! I then did her “booty lift” workout as my toning exercises for the day and last but not least her 7 minute HIIT workout. This format is my favorite but she switched this one up slightly so you got to choose what cardio to do in the intervals. I found that really motivating because for those 20 seconds I had to rely on being my own personal trainer. I could’ve just sat on the floor for that time but instead I picked the hardest option that she had in her suggestions. It showed me how determined I was to lose the weight! That’s another reason I love blogging this journey I feel as though I’m accountable to you. It makes me push myself for the better and I cant ask for anymore than that.
