Every day it’s getting closer and closer to my so-called “goal date”. I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t worked out in a couple of weeks. It started off because I was too busy, things got hectic, (read this blog post for more information) then it turned into me making excuses again. Again, I am annoyed with myself. I’m my own worst enemy sometimes. If I wrote up a list of pros and cons to working out and eating healthy, the pros would ALWAYS out weigh the cons, but for some reason I can’t get that into my head.
Ideally I want to have at least proved to myself, on January 2nd, that I can do this if I really work at it. To have lost even,…I was going to say to have lost even a little bit of weight but honestly if that was the case I would still be disappointed. I have 2 months, last time I lost 1 1/2 stone in that time. I want to have lost a decent bit of weight. I’m not talking crazy weight or using unhealthy methods but if I actually do what I’m about to propose, losing 1 1/2 stone again doesn’t seem too impossible.
Firstly, I need your help. You guys have been a great source of support and encouragement lately and I’m hoping you can keep that going for just a couple more weeks. I need you to hold me accountable. Check that I’m not going back on my word, that I am keeping my promise of sticking to the plan.
If you also follow Lucy’s workouts you’ll know she has started a November Challenge. My aim is to do her November Challenge every day, but because I was to lose weight a bit faster I’m going to do 1-2 more of her workouts each day. However I will listen to my body I don’t want to push myself too far but I do want to push myself a bit more. Though I will not let myself use “I’m tired” as an excuse because realistically when January 2nd comes around “I’m tired” won’t have cut it. If I want something to change, then I have to change something. Nobody will do it for me.
If you follow my blog you’ll know that I really struggle when it comes to food. I mean really struggle. I love healthy food but my mind loves unhealthy food more. When I exercise and eat healthily there’s this niggling voice in the back of my mind urging me to eat badly. “One little piece of chocolate won’t hurt” I’ve fallen for that one too many times. If I am to hold my hands up here I would say that sugar is an addiction and I am addicted. However
I’ve found a way to stop this….I’ve hopefully found a way to stop this….I THINK I’ve found a way to stop this.
I’m planning all my meals, for the whole of November. Every breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack will be planned right now. I can follow a workout plan without any complaints so I figured, why not plan my food too? The main things I want to stay away from are sugar, for obvious reasons, and dairy. I don’t know if I’ve touched on this before but I actually shouldn’t be eating dairy because I am allergic to it. However dairy is in all the best unhealthy food, ice cream, chocolate and pastries. But regardless of the acute pain in my stomach, the heavy feeling, the bloating, the acne and eczema, I still stuffed my face with it. Not anymore.
I want you guys to get involved in all of this too. The plan at the moment is to upload a weekly blog post on the meals I’ll be eating that week, if you wanted to join in. However I’ll be taking my work hours into account so it might be a bit odd. For example if I’m working Monday-Wednesday I’ll have to eat the exact same thing on those days to make it easier to meal prep. I hate meal prep but only because I hate having the same thing twice in a row. However with my work hours and sticking to my workout schedule I can’t justify time to make different food every day. To continue the example, Thursday and Friday would be completely different meals, as they’re my days off, and then the weekend would be back to having the same thing. That’ll change weekly, for example, the next week Monday-Wednesday will be different foods, Thursday and Friday will be the same foods and the weekend it will be different food again. I promise it will be clearer when my weekly posts go up.
Along side my weekly food posts for what I’m planning to eat this week, I have created a YouTube playlist. I have a playlist for each day in November with the workouts I have to do each day. I have added extra workouts for my days off as I can allocate more time for exercising then. Each day I will also being doing Lucy’s daily November challenge and I will be adding those videos to the playlist as they come out.
A big part of doing my own “November Challenge” is because if this does work, and I can’t see any reason why it shouldn’t, it will be completely documented. A perfect recipe for a healthy way to lose weight. Then I’ll implement it again in December and see how I am with my weight on January 2nd. I’m not expecting miracles in November so I know I will probably have to keep rolling full steam ahead for December. Then when January comes I’m not expecting to have much more to lose (hopefully) then I can focus on toning up and being happy in myself. But if I do need to lose more, I’ll just use the same method. Plan my workouts and meals monthly. (Here’s hoping Lucy does a challenge in January!)
Apart from the weight loss benefits I think it’s important to note the money benefits. Especially coming up to Christmas everyone is hyper aware of cash flow. Planning your meals monthly is going to be a great way to see where you might be able to buy a couple of Christmas presents. If you follow my food plan to a T, chances are you’ll save money. Having the same meals over a couple of days definitely saves money, as does eating healthily and the meals I make will be cheap and cheerful. You can hold me to that as I have to find €1,300 for a car repair and time is of the essence! You can’t exactly pull €1,300 out of thin air!
I’m hoping at the end of this we will have proved to ourselves that if we want something and work hard for it, we can get it. We can achieve it, for ourselves. We’ll be more confident, stronger, a little lighter, happier, healthier and be enjoying a Christmas without becoming bankrupt!
